Observing and Describing Exercise

Yesterday was the first time i took time out and wrote about the scenery i was in. i didnt know that i could type so many words and elaborate the way i did. me doing all of this really opened a new i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything a new phase in my mind. my brain opened up a little bit more as i was typing yesterday. describing the people the trees the skyscrapers the sounds i heard the i cant think of anything the things i smelled it was all new and different to me. I dont think i have ever written a paper like that before in my life. i feel as if that was my best paper so far. i know that i have to improve on a lot of writing and grammatical errors but that will come in due time. i think i feel best at righting when i am sitting in a nice scenery like yesterday. being away from most of my classmates and being on my own really helped me with the paper. i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i really think the free writing yesterday was a great way for us as students to get better at writing. i can think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything .

Morning In Uptown Revised

Sitting here in cold, steel chairs feeling a cool breeze as the sound of the water in the fountain is moving as if I was on a tropical island. People looking as if they were on their way to their jobs. Each and every one is moving with a purpose, some walking all by themselves and others walking in groups of 2’s and 3’s. It is not as loud as I thought it would be but at the same time it is not dead silent. A small amount of humidity is in the air since it is July, keeping me not too hot and not too cold. A “just right” feeling where I can stay outside for more than a couple of hours. So many trees, buildings, cars, sculptures, and construction work all around me that I just cannot help but to admire certain things for a long period of time. As the people are passing by, you can smell different scents of expensive perfume and cologne. Some of the women that are walking by are pretty good looking, making it kind of hard not to look up from typing just to see how beautiful they are. I can tell that there are a couple homeless people searching and trying their best to find their next meal. Only God knows if they will or not. One homeless guy approaches me to my right having a terrible scent. He is a tall, young African American man wearing a ripped up brown shirt, black jeans with holes through the front and the back of his jeans and no socks or shoes with dirt and mud all over his body. He smells just like an old batch of rotten eggs. He keeps bothering me asking me constantly for spare change. The man walks across the street and then comes back and asks the same question; he does it 3 times and I am getting irritated. The man starting to give me a migraine above my left eye. Feeling like someone is pinching me and will not stop. I am ignoring him, trying to get him to leave me alone and finally he notices that I am paying him no mind and leaves me be. Being in a big city like Charlotte it is always changing. Things are constantly being built or rebuilt to make it look more and more up to date. These skyscrapers force me to lean my head further and further backwards just to notice how tall they really are. The smell of cigarettes is starting to hit me since a man is literally five feet away enjoying it before he goes into one of the well-built skyscrapers.

I feel as if 45 minutes has passed but I am probably wrong, so I now put in my headphones, turn on my music and admire more and more of my surroundings. My phone continues to go off from people wanting to know how I am doing today, making me feel as if I am a special person to them all. Now the sun’s reflection off of one of the skyscraper’s windows has beamed down directly on me creating a small amount of heat coming onto my body. As I watch everyone that passes by the silver table I am sitting at, I notice that most people have something in common. The colorway of their clothes is nearly the same for everyone. Navy blue coats and slacks, light blue or white shirts, and brown shoes. Repeatedly, I see the same outfits but there are others that have their own type of style and colorway. Going from typing to back to my phone to typing again, my migraine above my left eye was getting worse. It felt like someone is now stabbing me with 4 knives and will not stop. My music is not up all the way so as I am hearing lyrics being performed to a slow mellow beat I also hear chatter as people are either on the phone, talking to their work buddy or partner, or singing out loud. Finally, I see the first person since I sat down riding one of the electric scooters. I almost thought he was going to fall when he was getting off, but the average height young man made it safely. Now I am yawning, probably because my roommate wanted to cut on the light at 4 o’clock in the morning and start to talk to me as if I was up and not sleeping. I feel as if the same small brown bird that has been flying around me since I sat down. I look up once and it is there. Then I type a small amount and look up again and it is gone. A repeated situation that is continually happening every 10 minutes. It is a pretty nice morning. No clouds in the sky just the sun, a little humidity with a breeze, and many different things you can encounter as you just sit and watch.

Important Place

starting from when i was 5 years old this place has never giving up on me. The fresh wax smell in almost every school or recreation gives me chills each time i step foot on the basketball court. The squeaks from each players shoes , the sounds of the ball bouncing, the score board being lit up with many different numbers just a place that will always be in my heart forever . even until this day i just love to see a court hear about going to a court or even just knowing about where a court is , i know i can be happy everytime i leave it. leaving it knowing that i will be back soon , soon may be 2 hours later or even a day to a week later, that place will always see me . in my future when i have kids if they want to come to this place too i will be so happy that they would , i would not want to force them to go, it would have to be up to them . but most likely they will. i can think of anything i cant think of anything hearing the sound of when the ball goes through the net not even touching the red or orange color rim. maybe it is just orange. but anyway i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything i cant think of anything. being in this special place helps me to relax and be calm and get things off my mind. even when i use to be terrible at it , just the thought of me trying to be the next best thing was always lingering everytime i stepped foot in my important and special place. having the right shoes always was a plus when on it and will always be love

Art 21 Place

What does my professor have me watching? Wondering what this long video will be about and why is this lady sitting in a humongous chair. She has a soft voice which is kind of hard for me to understand what she is saying and what she is talking about. Her hair is also kind of weird as well it’s like she has and old 2005 haircut. I wonder how old this video is and when did it release for us to watch . maybe this video is going to be about creativity or design or sculptures, many different things this video can be about. There are a lot of huge sculptures as i’m watching the video, maybe they are at a museum. The kids are on a field trip at the museum, I bet looking at the sculptures in a child’s perspective has to be a very cool experience for them. I feel that the person that is talking in the movie has a special feel for the sculptures. He seems like he really enjoys learning about them and making them. The person’s name is richard and he likes to draw so that ties in with him learning about sculptures. Also his brother and father was artistic so i guess it is a thing that runs in the family. He also claimed that it helps his hand eye coordination as he is jotting down in his little book different ideas and different things about the big sculptures that he sees. As the ,movie is going on richard is explaining about spaces within a person and different built sculptures around our everyday use like at a baseball game he claimed. Now im just realizing that this is a video about art from different people’s perspective. It has transitioned from Richard – an elderly man- to a lady looking like she is in her mid 30’s to 40’s and her name is Sally. Sally has a lot of pictures in her room. She is also a person who looks at everything as an artist. The lady also loves photography and seems like she is a nature person and is photogenic when it comes to any and everything she sees. I can tell she has a broad imaginary place that she is in. her vision for pictures is probably outstanding . She is most definitely an outside person and seems like she likes to go on trips to explore new natural settings. As she is explaining about the different pictures she took of her family I can tell it was a lot put into each and every picture. Every little thing seemed to matter to sally. Knowing that any and everything could make all the pictures better.Everything in each picture – even the tiniest thing has some type of meaning to why she wanted to take the picture that certain way. I know her kids had to be tired of taking pictures each and every day having to get things to be a certain way but in the outcome the pictures looked pretty decent. I also know that camera she was using took a long time to prepare for the pictures because it was not a new up to date style of camera. Now we have transitioned to Margaret and Barry. Margaret claims she likes things that are handmade. She likes the creativity that one person can do. Margaret sees things in art the others could not even if they tried to. Barry is a graffiti artist. Spray Painting on walls, showcasing how he feels throughout the city which he lives in. They both claimed that graffiti is just like billboards across the city. So if people see graffiti as trash why do they not see billboards as trash as well? Margaret does all of her work by hand and does not use any projection to help her. She sees what she wants to draw and she does it, no doubt about it. Barry looks at anything he sees throughout everyday life and if he likes it, he will come home and draw it and go on about his day just because that is something that he loves to do. Everyone in this video is very passionate about the love they have for art. In the art crowd when doing graffiti it’s mainly the same people that do it daily. The paintings that both Barry and Margaret do are outstanding and handmade only.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
